DENVER, Colo. – South Dakota State (15-3-1, 6-2-1 SUMMIT) was unable to overcome Denver (13-5-1, 8-0-1 SUMMIT) as the Jacks fell, 2-0, to the Pioneers Sunday afternoon at University of Denver Soccer Stadium.
SDSU was held scoreless for just the second time this season, breaking a streak of 11 consecutive games with a goal. Goalkeeper
Jocelyn Tanner (11-3-1) was busy in net as she tied a career-high with six saves in the loss.
Denver had been building pressure in the later stages of the opening half, but the Jacks did well to absorb it and keep the Pioneers at bay until the 40
th minute when Syndey Sharp was able to connect on a header to start the scoring.
The Pioneers found a second goal in the 66
th minute to double its lead and take control of the game.
SDSU possessed the ball for only 38% of the contest and managed just one shot, the fewest by a Jackrabbit squad since 2016.

- South Dakota State finishes the Summit League regular season with a 6-2-1 record and a second-place finish in the standings. The Jacks have finished no worse than second in five seasons under Brock Thompson.
