O'AHU, HAWAII – South Dakota State was dominant from start to finish as the Jackrabbits secured their first 5-0-0 start in program history.
Cece Limongi set the tone early with a goal in the fourth minute which propelled the Jacks to a 4-0 victory over Hawaii Pacific on Wednesday evening.
Taylor Lock made two saves to record her second clean slate of the season and SDSU's third consecutive shutout. The Jackrabbits have not surrendered a goal in over 345 minutes.
Avery Murdzek registered three points in the contest, her second multi-point game in the last three matches, with her first collegiate goal and an assist. Four different Jackrabbits accounted for SDSU's four goals.
Limongi opened the scoring in the fourth minute when she found the top left corner from 20 yards out. Murdzek assisted on the Jacks first goal and then scored herself just six minutes later. SDSU played a corner kick short to Murdzek who dribbled it into the box and sent in a cross that deflected off a defender and past the keeper.
Abigail Kastens found the back of the net in the 20
th minute for her first goal of the season.
Teani Arakawa would bookend the first half with a goal in the 43
rd minute, her third goal of the season and second in the last two games.
SDSU was held scoreless in the second half, but still dominated the possession battle, having held the ball for 74% of the match compared to Hawaii Pacific's 26%. The Jackrabbit defense allowed just three shots, only two of which were on target.
