South Dakota State (7-1-0) used two goals in the opening five minutes to propel itself to a 6-0 win over Morningside (2-2-0) on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Fishback Soccer Park.
Avery Murdzek and
Maya Hansen each scored twice while
Jocelyn Tanner and the defense posted SDSU's fourth shutout of the season.
The Jackrabbits hosted their second annual GOALD game, partnering with the Samford Health Foundation to raise awareness and fundraise for childhood cancer. SDSU welcomed honorary captain Evan Henning to participate in the pregame coin toss.
Marisa Schulz and
Reagan Anderson each found the back of the net in the second half.
Avery Murdzek added an assist to her two goals to register a career-best five points, while her sister,
Laney Murdzek recorded two assists of her own.
Kayla Wisniewski added a pair of assists while
Kayla Anderson,
Cece Limongi and
Jenna Hallen each had one.
The Murdzek sisters wasted no time getting SDSU on the board as Laney fed a beautiful ball to Avery in the third minute for the Jacks' first goal of the game. Two minutes later, Limongi found Hansen to double SDSU's early in the game.
In the 14
th minute, Wisniewski crossed the ball to
Laney Murdzek on the left side of the penalty box who then found Hansen in space in the center of the box. Hansen placed the ball in the lower left corner from six yards out.
The Jacks scored twice off a corner kick in the match – Schulz with a nifty header in the 53
rd minute and
Reagan Anderson with a redirection by the near post in the 79
th minute.
Avery Murdzek put an exclamation point on the win with a late goal in the 81
st minute to conclude the scoring.
South Dakota State outshot the Mustangs 28-4 and allowed only one shot on target. The Jacks held possession for 68% of the match.

- The Jacks have gone 27 consecutive home matches without a loss, with SDSU's last loss in Brookings happening in September 2018 vs. Arizona State.
- South Dakota State is outscoring opponents 28-6 this season.
- A freshman either scored or assisted on four of SDSU's zix goals in the contest. Freshmen have accounted for 36% of the Jacks' offensive production this season (29 of 81 points).
