KRETZ TAKES THIRD AT IOWA CLASSIC

RIVERSIDE, Iowa - South Dakota State's Ty Kretz wrapped up the Iowa Fall Classic with a third place finish Tuesday at the Blue Top Ridge Golf Course. He led the Jackrabbits to fifth place as a team, their best finish of the season.
Kretz matched his best round of the year on the last day, a 70 (-2), bringing his three-round total to 218 (+2). The sophomore birdied four of his final six holes and had five total birdies on the day. He had 11 overall at the tournament, the second most of all players. Kretz was the best performer on par-4 holes, averaging 3.97 strokes.
Matthew Schaefer and Jonah Dohrer were part of a four-way tie for 20th place. Schaefer had a 78 (+6) Tuesday and Dohrer was one shot behind with a 79 (+7). The pair turned in 232 (+16) final scorecards. Blake Schaper posted his best round of the week on the last day, a 4-over 76, to finish in 27th place (234, +18). Luke Honner rounded out the SDSU lineup in a tie for 34th place (238, +22).
SDSU's final team tally came to 914 (+50). The Jacks recorded 145 pars at the tournament and 35 team birdies.
Iowa won its home tournament by six shots over Valparaiso. The Hawkeyes' Mac McClear earned medalist honors as the only player to finish in the red.

SDSU will resume its 2022-23 season February 10-11 at the Wyoming World Match Play Championship in Palm Desert, California.
