BROOKINGS, SD – South Dakota State track and field will travel north to Fargo, ND for the Summit League Outdoor Championships Thursday through Saturday at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.

The first day of competition starts at 11 a.m. Thursday with the multi and field events and while the track events are set for 7 p.m. Friday action begins at 11 a.m. with the remaining multi events as field events start at 3 p.m. and track kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Finally, Championship Saturday is scheduled to start at noon on the field and at 1:20 p.m. on the track.

Six Jackrabbits look to defend their 2022 outdoor league titles: Ben Olson (5k, 10k), Pierre Lear (110-meter hurdles), Reid Pierzinski (400-meter hurdles), Tristen Hanna (triple jump), Rich-Ann Archer (100-meter dash), Leah Hansen (5k).

LAST TIME OUT: South Dakota State track and field wrapped up the 2022-23 outdoor regular season with three meets across the region on Friday as the Jackrabbits tallied multiple top ten finishes and new entries into the SDSU record books.

NDSU Tune-Up
Hunter Wallster kicked things off for SDSU by finishing as runner-up of the men's hammer throw with a personal best mark of 202-10.00, which keeps him in second on the SDSU all-time list.

Dominick Etherington finished third in the shot put with a 57-03.75 as Wyatt Seagren took seventh with a 51-08.25 and Noah Jessup was ninth with a 46-00.75.

Ethan Fischer threw a 170-09.00 in the discus for third place while Seagren finished fourth with a mark of 164-08.00 and Noah Jessup was sixth with a personal best 158-07.00.

Tristin Hanna claimed third in the javelin with a throw of 163-07.00 as Bowen McConville took fourth with a personal best 155-00.00.

Evan Henderson ran a 10.93 for fourth place overall in the 100-meter dash with Ty Kadlec took sixth in 11.14.

Ryan Benson finished fifth in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a 15.51 as Andrew Law took eighth in 16.33.

Jared Wipf launched himself into SDSU history after clocking a personal best 21.22 in the 200-meter for second place and the fifth fastest mark in school history. Kudra Nzibariza (22.08) and Kadlec (22.49) also finished in the top 10 in seventh and ninth place, respectively.

Joe Anders took 11^th in the men's 400-meter dash with a clocking of 51.46 while Jeremiah Donahoe ran a 57.25 in the 400-meter hurdles for a fifth place finish.

Andrew Moeller clocked a 1:59.31 for eighth place in the 800-meter run and Nathan Notgrass finished in 11^th in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:00.23.

Matthew Katz finished as runner-up of the pole vault with a height of 16-02.00 while Jaden Peters took fourth (15-02.25) and Benson came sixth (12-08.75, PR).

Tre Manning leaped his way into fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 22-08.00 while in the high jump, Connor Powers cleared 6-05.00 to take fifth place.

Hanna won the triple jump with a mark of 46-02.00 while Maximus Keefer took runner-up with a 45-01.00.

On the women's side, the 4x100-meter relay team of Cerington Jones, Jenna Johnson, Rich-Ann Archer and Jaiden Boomsma won the event in a blistering 46.74 seconds to set a new meet record.

Savannah Risseeuw led SDSU in the 100-meter hurdles, taking sixth in 14.35 seconds. Brielle Dixon (14.74) was seventh, Lizzy Gillingham (15.95, PR) came 17^th and Robyn Dayton (17.61, PR) finished 22^nd.

Three Jackrabbits finished in the top 10 of the 100-meter dash, led by Archer, who earned the title of runner-up after clocking a time of 12.12. Ashtyn Bertram ran a 12.40 for fifth and Brielle Dixon came eighth in a personal best 12.53 seconds. Jessica Boekelheide also earned a PR with a 12.74.

Four Jacks finished in the top 10 of the 200-meter dash, with Jones clocking a personal best 24.41 for third place and the tenth fastest time in school history. Johnson was sixth in 24.99 seconds, Bertram came seventh with a 25.16 and Emily Rystrom was ninth in a personal best 25.45.

Boekelheide, Erika Kuntz, Elaina Rice and Dayton all also earned personal bests in the event.

Kuntz then claimed runner-up in the 400-meter dash with a personal best 56.97 as Rystrom finished third with a 59.24.

Abby Hughes finished fourth in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a personal best clocking of 1:05.10.

In the 800-meter run, Harley Fischer took fourth place with a time of 2:17.42 while Hannah Spoden finished seventh with a 2:21.04.

Sierra Watterud won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:57.37 while Emma Gonzalez took runner-up in 5:01.34. Abby Deutsch came fifth with a 5:05.15 and Bridget Henne ran a 5:07.50 for sixth.

Nina Dawson took third place in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a personal best time of 12:01.84.

Jaiden Boomsma and Layne Kirkendoll each qualified for the finals of the long jump, finishing in sixth place (18-01.75) and ninth place (17-03.50), respectively. Dayton also earned a PR with a 16-00.50

Madison Kizer won the high jump with a clearance of 5-07.25 and Taylor Jochum finished fourth with a 5-03.25. Kirkendoll and Hadley Carlson tied for sixth with a mark of 5-01.25.

Greta Johnson took 10^th place in the women's pole vault with a height of 10-07.00.

In the triple jump, Sydney Mouw came seventh with a personal best mark of 35-03.00 as Shae Campbell finished eighth with a personal best 35-01.75 and Camryn Brinkman took ninth with a 35-01.25.

Catylynn Duff represented SDSU in the finals of the women's hammer throw and finished in seventh place overall with her mark of 165-07.00 while Robyn Dayton earned a personal best in the javelin (79-04.00).

Faith Leiseth and Mildred Young each made the finals of both the shot put and discus throw. In shot put, Leiseth took third (45-09.75) and Young finished ninth (39-09.75) while in the discus, Leiseth came third (150-09.00) and Young was fifth (144-03.00).

USD Tune-Up
Three Jackrabbits represented SDSU in Vermillion in a total of four events, which kicked off with Tyler O'Neill running a 4:19.87 in the men's 1500-meter run to finish fourth in his heat and 11^th overall.

He then went on to clock a 2:04.58 in the 800-meter run to finish fifth in his heat and in 22^nd place overall.

Calob Jones took fifth place overall in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 166-04.25 and Taylor Haring claimed ninth in the women's javelin with a throw of 104-03.25.

Wisconsin Classic
Three Jackrabbit men competed in the 1500-meter run in Madison, WI and all placed in the top 10 of the event.

Thomas Breuckman ran a personal best 3:45.87 for a second place finish and the sixth fastest time in school history. Ben Olson finished just behind in third with a personal best time of 3:47.15 and the eighth fastest mark at SDSU while Lucas Caminiti took ninth in 4:01.95.

REGIONAL RANKINGS: The seventh Division I Track and Field rankings of the season determined by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association were announced earlier this week with the Jackrabbits men falling one spot to 15^th place and the women dropping two to 25^th in the Midwest Region.

SDSU MEN AND WOMEN PICKED THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL: The South Dakota State men's and women's track and field teams were each selected to finish third in the Summit League for the incoming outdoor season.
