BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State is back in Frost Arena on Thursday as the Jackrabbits host Omaha at 7 p.m. SDSU sits at 9-9 overall and 2-1 in Summit League action. The Mavericks make their way to Brookings tied atop the conference standings with a 3-1 mark against Summit League opposition and stand at 10-9 overall.

The Jackrabbits are coming off a split of their matchups on their recent road trip. SDSU earned a one-point victory, 81-80, over St. Thomas in St. Paul on Thursday behind a game-winning field goal with six seconds left by
Zeke Mayo. The Jacks then traveled to Denver and lost a 99-80 contest to the Pioneers on Saturday. Denver shot 54.4% from the field and nearly 50% from 3-point range, hitting an SDSU opponent high this season of 14 3s in the win.

SDSU has picked up its productivity offensively since New Year's Eve. The Jacks have shot over 50% in every game their last five times out and now rank 33rd in the nation overall on the season with a 48.2 field goal percentage. They are paced by
William Kyle III who ranks ninth in the country in the category going 63.8% from the floor.Â

Along with Kyle III who has improved his scoring average to 13.4 points per game, joining him in double digit scoring are
Zeke Mayo (18.3),
Luke Appel (10.9) and
Charlie Easley (10.4). Mayo ranks among the top seven players in the league in points, rebounds, assists and steals. Easley paces the conference in steals per contest.Â

The Jackrabbits and Mavericks meet Thursday serving as two of the four teams in the conference with one loss in the early portion of Summit League play. SDSU holds a 66-35 all-time record over Omaha and have controlled the series of late. The Jacks have won eight consecutive matchups against the Mavs, including 13 of the last 15 games.

Last season, SDSU won the two teams' regular season contests by a combined 44 points. The two sides met in the quarterfinals of The Summit League Tournament last March. SDSU held a 40-39 halftime lead and held off the Mavs for a 63-55 win.Â

Omaha has won four of its last five games. Frankie Fidler, the reigning Summit League Performer of the Week, is averaging 18.7 points, while he ranks fourth in the nation in free throws made (126).
