IOWA CITY, Iowa - The South Dakota State men's golf team tied for eighth place at the Hawkeye Invitational Sunday afternoon at Finkbine Golf Course. 
Ty Kretz was the top Jackrabbit finisher, placing t-14th place.
Kretz fired a 69 (-2) during Sunday's final round to move up three spots on the leaderboard. He carded a 210 (-3) final tally, which is the best total score of his career and second-best score to par. Kretz completed the tournament with 13 birdies and was only one shot outside the top-10 finishers.
Luke Honner finished two strokes behind Kretz with a 214 (+1) scorecard. 
Bryson Mercier posted a 69 (-2) Sunday, his best round of the weekend, to improve 21 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 32nd place (215, +2). Mercier tallied 14 birdies over three rounds, the fourth-most of all players.
Jonah Dohrer tied for 45th with a 217 (+4) scorecard and 
Blake Schaper was t-57th with a 219 (+6).
The Jacks' 851 (-1) team tally is their best total score of the year and third tournament under par this season.
Wisconsin maintained its lead over the field and won the event with an 840 (-12). The Badgers were led by medalist Cameron Huss, who also finished 12-under.
