COLUMBUS, Ohio - Led by a third-place finish from
Tyler Seeling, the South Dakota State men's golf team finished t-5th at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate Sunday at the Ohio State Golf Course.
Seeling fired career-best 215 (+2) over 54 holes this weekend, including a 70 (-1) Sunday. He was even par on the front nine, then went 1-under on the back half. This is the first top-five finish of his career and the third top-10 placing.
"I'm so happy for Tyler," said head coach
Parker Edens. "He has worked so hard in the last year and a half. It's starting to really show and him having a finish like this was just a matter of time."
Luke Honner had the next best finish for the Jackrabbits. He tied for 38th place with a 224 (+11) three-day scorecard.
Blake Schaper tied for 47th (225, +12) and
Bryson Mercier was one shot back in a tie for 56th place (226, +13).
Ty Kretz rounded out the Jacks in a tie for 78th place with a 229 (+16) scorecard.
As a team, SDSU posted an 882 (+30) final tally. The Jacks were 11 shots off Indiana's first-place 871 (+19).
"What a special week for this team," added Edens. "These guys faced so much adversity and they handled it with so much class. They hung in there with some of the best teams in the country and beat some very good teams. I couldn't be more round of them and their fight."
"I'm really excited to see this group compete next week and contend for a championship."

South Dakota State will compete in the Summit League Championships April 28-30 in Sellersburg, Indiana.
