SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State middle blocker
Sydni Schetnan was named the Summit League Kwik Star Volleyball Defensive Peak Performer of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
Schetnan led the league with 2.63 blocks per set and 21 total blocks across two four-set victories for the Jackrabbits as they clinched the outright regular season title, improving to 14-0. The 6-foot-5 redshirt senior ranks 12th in the country, averaging 1.47 blocks per set.
The Sioux Falls, S.D., native notched 14 kills, a .393 hitting clip, and eight total blocks in a four-set victory over North Dakota State. Schetnan then recorded 13 blocks along with five kills and a .250 hitting clip in a four-set victory against St. Thomas.
Schetnan's 13 total blocks are tied for third most in a four-set match in Division I this season. The Jackrabbit redshirt senior also set a program record in a four-set match with 11 block assists against the Tommies.
