MADISON, Wisc. – The South Dakota State men's golf team is in seventh place after round one of the Badger Invitational hosted by Wisconsin. The Jacks are four shots back from fifth-place teams Northern Illinois and Summit League cohort St. Thomas with a one-under team score.
Jake Olson and Caleb Kern are pacing the Jacks, each with a -1 scorecard through 18 holes. The pair of Jacks are tied for 22nd. Olson carded four birdies on the day, while Kern tallied three. Kern shot a 34 (-2) on the front nine before carding a 37 (+1) the rest of the way.
Jacob Wilson sits in a tie for 28th at even-par through day one of competition. The sophomore had three birdies on the day.
Ty Adkins is tied for 39th to round out the scoring Jackrabbits as he carded a 73 (+1) on the first day of competition.
In a tie for 89th is Drew Teeter with a 78 (+6) in the first round of action, while Charlie Allen competing as an individual is tied for 59th place with a 75 (+3).
NOTES
The second round of the Badger Invitational will be played Monday. The final round is set for Tuesday.
