OREM, Utah -- Kelsey Worcester scored the game-winning goal in the 61st minute as South Dakota State defeated Dixie State (Utah), 2-1, in women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Saturday's victory finished off a weekend sweep for the Jackrabbits, who ended the regular season with a 6-9-2 overall and will be off until opening the United Soccer Conference Tournament Nov. 2 in Washington, D.C. SDSU opened the road trip Friday with a 1-0 victory over Utah Valley State.
After a scoreless first half on Saturday, SDSU scored first as Kellyn Farrell assisted on Chelsea Goosen's team-leading sixth goal of the season.
Dixie State came back three minutes later to time the game as Robyn Wall scored following a corner kick by Mikala Wilkes.
The Jackrabbits regained the lead just over a minute later as Worcester scored off a cross by
Erin Kasmarik for her fifth goal of the season.
Jenn Davis earned the victory in goal for the Jackrabbits as she played the entire second half and made one save. Nicole Lograsso recorded six saves in first-half action.
Dixie State, which is in transition to NCAA Division II, out-shot the Jackrabbits 14-11 and held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
Suzanne Hunt made four saves for Dixie State.
