TULSA, Okla. — Sophomore Kayla Braffet knocked home a goal early in the second half to lead the South Dakota State women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Oral Roberts on Sunday afternoon.
The goal, in the 49th minute, was assisted by Steph Peterson and was Braffet's third goal of the season and sixth of her career.
Goalkeeper Dani Pappas notched her third shutout of the season and stopped seven Golden Eagle shots for her third win this year. She is now 3-1-1 overall.
The win pumps the Jacks to 5-4-1 and a perfect 2-0 in the Summit League. Since joining the conference in 2007, SDSU is 14-2-2 in Summit League matches. The Jacks are also 5-1-1 in their last seven. Oral Roberts drops to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the Summit.
In win, the Jacks were outshot 14-6 and 7-4 on-goal. SDSU was also outshot on corners, 6-2.
The Jacks return home for the “Feed the Fans” game at Fishback Soccer Park when they host Oakland for their Summit League home opener on Friday at 6 p.m.
