VERMILLION, S.D. — Sophomore Kayla Braffet scored two goals to lead the South Dakota State women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over South Dakota as they wrapped up their perfect exhibition season Sunday at USD Soccer Field.
Junior Tory Schiltgen put the Jacks on the board in the 32nd minute with an assist from sophomore Cori Bonte. Schiltgen's goal was her second of the exhibition season with the first coming Friday against Northern Iowa in a 1-0 win.
Braffet added two second-half goals within a two-minute span to push the Jack's lead to 3-0. Her first goal in the 53rd minute was unassisted while her second goal in the 55th minute was assisted by Danni Healy.
The Jacks peppered the goal outshooting the Coyotes 24-7, including 10-2 on-goal. Braffet and Kelsey Ferguson led the way with six shots apiece.
Dani Pappas and Brie Rogers split time in goal for SDSU. Pappas recorded both SDSU saves.
SDSU
kicks-off the regular season Friday at Minnesota as they look to avenge a
second round loss in last season's NCAA College Cup. Game time is scheduled for
6 p.m. in St. Paul.
