BROOKINGS, S.D.—The South Dakota State men's golf team plays in its regular-season finale this weekend when it travels to Iowa for the 23rd annual Hawkeyes Invitational in Iowa City.
The event, hosted by the University of Iowa, is a two-day, 54-hole event at the Finkbine Golf Course, a par-72, 7,239-yard course. The Jackrabbits tee off Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m. with shotgun starts.
In addition to SDSU, the 14-team field includes Denver, DePaul, Idaho, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Alabama, SMU, UMKC, and Wichita State.
In their last outing, the Jackrabbits finished 12th at the 44th annual ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., April 3-4. They shot an 891 (303-290-295) with 38 birdies and a pair of eagles.
Junior Grant Smith (Johnson, Iowa) shot a 223 (76-71-76) to lead the Jacks. For the season, he leads the team and ranks fourth in The Summit League with a 73.6 stroke average. Smith has a pair of top-five and top-10 finishes.
Freshman Felipe Strobach (Lima, Peru) is second on the team and fifth in the league with a 74.0 stroke average. He has a top-five finish and two top-10 finishes.
The Jackrabbits' stroke average (297.1) leads The Summit League, and four Jacks are in the top 20 for stroke average.
