TEMPE, Ariz.—After two rounds Saturday, the South Dakota State men's golf team is 12th at the 44th annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course.
The Jackrabbits shot a two-round 589 (303-286) with 22 birdies and an eagle. Iowa State leads the 13-team field with an 18-under par 550 (274-276) on the par-71, 7,013-yard course. Arizona State's Jon Rahm is in first after shooting a 12-under par 130 (66-64) in the 54-hole event.
Junior Grant Smith (Johnston, Iowa) and freshman Felipe Strobach (Lima, Peru) both shot 147s and are tied for 45th. Smith had a five-over par 76 in the first round and shot par in the second round. Strobach had a four-over par 75 in the opening round and a one-over par 72 in the second.
Freshman Alejandro Perazzo (Caracas, Venezuela) had the Jacks' eagle on the 527-yard, par-5 14th hole. He shot a 148 (77-71) and is tied for 53rd.
Senior Trevor Tobin (Brandon) is tied for 62nd (78-72=150) and freshman Jaxon Lynn (Sylvan Lake, Alberta) is 65th (75-76=151).
Competing as an individual, sophomore Naqiuddin Fuad (Perak, Malaysia) shot a 150 (73-77) and is tied for 62nd.
