The South Dakota State men's golf team travels to the Rocky Mountains next week when it plays in the Ram Masters Invitational hosted by Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo.
The 18-team field which includes Summit League members Denver and Oral Roberts, begins with 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday on the par-70, 7,218-yard Fort Collins Country Club. A 9 a.m. CT shotgun start is slated for both days.
The host Rams won last year's invitational, shooting a tournament record one-under par 839. Kansas' Ben Welle was medalist, firing a four-under par 206.
Senior
Grant Smith shot a 68 in the third round to finish with a 210 and tie for fourth in last year's Ram Masters Invitational. The Jackrabbits had their best finish at the event, placing sixth with an 878.
SDSU opened the 2016-17 season by finishing ninth at the Badger Invitational earlier this week. Smith shot a 216 (73-71-72) to tie for 12
th while junior
Naqiuddin Fuad tied for 27
th, shooting a 221 (74-74-73).
