An elite field of collegiate golfers will descend on the Prairie Club in Valentine, Neb., Saturday through Monday as the South Dakota State men's golf team hosts The Jackrabbit for a second consecutive year.
The Dunes Course at Prairie Club, ranked the second-best course in Nebraska by Golf Digest and No. 35 on Golf Magazine's top 100 public courses in the country, hosts the 54-hole tournament on its 7,583-yard par-73 design. Tee times for Sunday and Monday are 9 a.m. and Tuesday at 8:15 a.m.
The three-day event features one of the season's top collegiate fields. The field includes: (9) Clemson, (48) Tennessee, (70) Oregon State, (71) Missouri, (86) Connecticut, (97) Furman, (99) Central Florida, Nebraska, Creighton, William & Mary. The field also includes a pair of Clemson Tigers among of the top-50 collegiate golfers. Stephen Behr ranks 18

In the inaugural Jackrabbit in 2015, SDSU seniors
Trevor Tobin and
Grant Smith finished tied for third and fifth, respectively, playing against six ranked teams and four of the top-50 collegiate golfers.
Tobin was tied for first after his final round, but had to wait until Oregon's Aaron Wise and South Florida's Claudio Correa played their final three holes. Wise and Correa finished one stroke ahead of Tobin with 209s.
Tobin shot a career-best 210 (70-70-70), had five birdies in the final round and 14 for the tournament. Smith also had a tremendous tournament, shooting a final round four-under par 68 (70-73-68=211). His final round included three birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 556-yard No. 15 hole.
SDSU finished fifth in The Jackrabbit, shooting a three-round, seven-over par 871 (295-290-286). South Florida won the tournament, firing an 18-under par 846 (295-275-276). The Jackrabbits finished ahead of No. 5 McNeese State and No. 42 Missouri.
Smith leads the team and is tied for fifth in The Summit League with a 72.5 stroke average. The Jackrabbits are third in the league with a 294.3 stroke average.
