Coming off their best finish of the season, the South Dakota State men's golf team returns to the course when they play in the Bill Ross Intercollegiate hosted by UMKC in Raymore, Mo., Monday and Tuesday.
The Jackrabbits, who placed fourth at The Jackrabbit Sept. 25-27, are among the 12-team field that also includes Summit League members Omaha, South Dakota and Western Illinois.
Play begins Monday at the par-72, 7,400-yard Creekmoor Golf Club. The teams and individuals play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday. An 8:30 a.m. shotgun start is slated for both days.
The Jackrabbits make their sixth appearance in the Bill Ross Intercollegiate with their best finish coming in 2010. SDSU tied for seventh in the 14-team field. Last year, senior
Grant Smith tied for 15
th, shooting a 223 (73-73-77) and the Jacks shot a three-round 895 (298-298-299).
Smith and sophomore
Jaxon Lynn both have 72.33 stroke averages to lead the team and rank second in The Summit League.
Smith recorded his sixth round under 70 this season when he shot a 68 in the opening round of The Jackrabbit. Additionally, he has four rounds at-or-below par.
Lynn turned his best collegiate performance at The Jackrabbit, finishing third with a six-under par 210 (67-73-70). His opening-round 67 ranks as the seventh-best round in SDSU history and his 54-hole score sixth best.
Freshman
Alejandro Restrepo sports a 73.44 stroke average and tied for 10
th at The Jackrabbit. His best round this season came in the final round, shooting a three-under 69.
Sophomore
Alejandro Perazzo recorded a personal-best 70 in the opening round of The Jackrabbit and has a 74.56 stroke average.
The Jackrabbits lead The Summit League with a 291.2 scoring average.
