After spending the last four months practicing, the South Dakota State men's golf team returns to competition when it plays Monday and Tuesday in the 2019 Pizza Hut-Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Southern Utah in St. George, Utah.
The 11-team field will participate in the 36-hole tournament at the par-72, 6,900-yard Sunbrook Golf Course. Teams will play 18 holes each day with 10 a.m. shotgun starts.
The field includes: Creighton, Fairleigh Dickinson, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Colorado, Southern Utah, Stetson, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State and Western Illinois.
In four tournaments this past fall, the Jackrabbits' best finish came in The Jackrabbit, finishing seventh. The three-day tournament featured two teams ranked in the GolfStat.com's top 50 and a top-50 player.
Senior
Jared Nicolls leads them team with a 73.75 stroke average. He has four rounds of par or lower, including a 69 in the final round of the Ram Masters Invitational.
Junior
Jacob Otta turned in the best fall of his career with a 74.58 stroke average. His best outing also came in the Ram Masters Invitational, tying for 25
th with a 215 (72-71-72).
The Jackrabbits have a 299.7 stroke average.
