South Dakota State is poised for its first road contests of the season, a week-long trip to Hawaii that will include three games against Idaho State, Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific. Three Jackrabbits make the return trip to their home state in freshman Teani Arakawa (Makawao, Hawaii) and siblings Karlee Manding and Kaycee Manding (Waipahu, Hawaii).
Fans will not be allowed within Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium due to a state mandate limiting attendance at University of Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific athletic contests.
NEWS & NOTES
- South Dakota State went 2-0 on the first weekend of the season with a 4-1 win over Augustana and a 3-1 win over UTRGV. The Jacks are 2-0-0 for the second time in the last three seasons.
- Maya Hansen was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after she tallied eight points (three goals, two assists) in two games on the opening weekend of the season. It marked her second-career league weekly honor.
- The Jacks have scored seven goals so far this season, the most through two matches since 2003.
- Freshmen stole the headline in SDSU's victory over Augustana. Newcomers Teani Arakawa and Laney Murdzek each found the back of the net in their first collegiate game, while Murdzek added an assist to her impressive debut.
- Rachel Preston was the lone Jackrabbit to play 90 minutes in both matches of the weekend. The senior earned her first-career point with an assist in the 15th minute of SDSU's win over UTRGV.
- Eden Brooker notched a career-high three points with a goal and assist in 42 minutes of Sunday's contest.
- Cece Limongi netted her first goal of the season, and fourth of her career, in the ninth minute of Sunday's match
- The Jackrabbits rank 13th nationally in assists (7) and 19th nationally in goals (7) after opening weekend.
- Maya Hansen was one of 24 players in the country to score at least three goals on opening weekend. Her 4.00 points/game rank seventh in the country.
- SDSU has gone 25 consecutive home matches without a loss. The Jacks' last loss at Fishback Soccer Park happened September 10th, 2018 against Arizona State.
- South Dakota State has recorded at least 10 wins in eight consecutive seasons, the longest streak of double-digit wins in the Summit League. The Jacks boast more 10-win seasons (10) than any other league school since 2010 and have amassed at least 10 wins in 12 of the last 13 seasons.
- A majority of SDSU's spring 2021 production returns to the roster this fall in key areas such as goals (96%), points (88%), assists (71%) and saves (100%). More than 82% of last season's minutes are accounted for on this season's roster.
