IOWA CITY, Iowa - The South Dakota State men's golf team wrapped up the Hawkeye Invitational in fifth place Sunday at the Finkbine Golf Course.
Noah Boraas and
Jonah Dohrer paced SDSU with 218 (+2) final scores to tie for 15th place.
The Jackrabbits tallied an 881 (+17) final team score. The group's final round of 289 (+1) was its best of the tournament and moved the Jacks up two spots on the leaderboard from Friday's finish. It is the team's third top-five finish of the season.
Dohrer and Boraas both saved their best round for last. Dohrer carded a 69 (-3) on the final 18 holes with five birdies to jump 20 spots in the final standings. Boraas shot a 71 (-1) Sunday for move up 15 spots. He was the best golfer on par-3 holes, averaging 2.83 strokes, and had a team-best 11 birdies.
Jack Tanner tied for 35th place with a 223 (+7). He matched Boraas with 11 birdies at the tournament.
Ty Kretz finished with a 226 (+10) scorecard for 46th place and
Matthew Schaefer recorded a 228 (+12) to finish 57th.
No. 28 Kansas won the team title by two shots over Iowa (852-854). Kansas' Harry Hiller won medalist honors with a 208 (-8).
UP NEXT
The Jackrabbits will travel to Newton Kansas for the Summit League Championship May 1-3.
