OMAHA, Neb. — A late first half goal proved to be the difference as South Dakota State fell to Creighton, 1-0, in the Jackrabbits' final non-conference match of the season at the Bluejays' Morrison Stadium on Friday.Â
Â
South Dakota State's
Reagan Anderson had the first shot on goal of the contest in the 10th minute. The next 34 minutes didn't see either squad put together a shot at a goalkeeper as the two sides played a fairly even possession battle.Â
Â
The final minute of the half ended up providing the game-winning goal. Creighton's Abigail Santana sent a pass into the box that found teammate Shani Sirota. The Bluejay knocked a header in past SDSU goalkeeper
Jocelyn Tanner to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.Â
Â
Creighton nearly took a 2-0 edge in the 47th minute, but a breakaway opportunity saw the Bluejays' Maddie Radke hit a shot wide with a defender tailing her. Two minutes later saw SDSU's
Kaycee Manding strike a shot off target, followed a minute later by another Bluejay shot, this time saved by Tanner.Â
Â
The next 40 minutes featured a back-and-forth affair. The Jackrabbits' last opportunity came in the 90th minute as SDSU had both a free kick outside the box as well as a corner kick chance. The Jacks were unable to take advantage as the Bluejays kept the visitors off the scoreboard late.Â
