BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Jackrabbits fell to the Washington Huskies, Friday evening at the Pentagon, 3-0.

Taylor Byl led the Jacks with five total blocks, while Brooke Larsen added 13 assists. Washington was able to hold Sylvie Zgonc to only nine kills on 26 swings, hitting. 154 for the game.

Kylie Kleckner led the way for the Huskies with 11 kills, while Simona Masteka added nine kills on 15 swings, hitting .533 for the game. Julia Hunt added eight kills on 12 swings in an impressive showing.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Set 1: The Huskies got out to a hot start going on an 11-0 run to start the game and the Jacks were never able to recover. With the score at 15-2 heading into the media timeout, SDSU started to fight back scoring two points at a time to get the score to 20-8 but it was ultimately too late as the Huskies took the set, 25-11.

Set 2: The Jacks rallied in the second set, but Washington was once again able to sprint out to a 6-1 lead. After an SDSU timeout, the Jacks were able to get the score back within two at 6-4. Washington kept extending their lead and eventually took a 15-9 lead into the media timeout. With the score at 16-11, the Jacks rallied off their best play of the day going on an 8-2 run and forcing a Washington timeout with the score deadlocked at 18. The Huskies were able to fight through it and rallied off a kill and an ace to finish the set, 25-21.

Set 3: The third set was more of the same from the Jackrabbits, as Washington got out to a 6-2 lead early in the third set. The Jacks rallied and got the score within two multiple times before cutting the lead to one with the score at 12-11. But the Huskies once again rebounded and rallied off three points to get the media timeout at 15-11. The Huskies kept the gap at four for almost the rest of the set before going on a 4-0 to end the set, 25-16, and the match, 3-0.

NOTES:
