BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota State women's soccer team downed Centenary 8-1 Saturday in the highest scoring game for the Jackrabbits this season.
"It was great to get so many different people contributing to the scoring today" said head coach Lang Wedemeyer. "This senior class has the distinction of qualifying for four Summit League conference tournaments in a row, the only school to do that since we joined in 2007. We are excited to host the tournament and look forward to playing Friday night."
Centenary's Allie Cortes beat Jackrabbit goalkeeper Elisa Stamatakis in the 20th minute of the game for an early lead.
Centenary couldn't hang onto the lead, though. Kelsey Ferguson scored the equalizer off a penalty kick in the 34th minute.
The Jacks then scored five goals in a matter of minutes.
