The South Dakota State soccer team hits the road for the first time in Summit League play with contests at Kansas City and Oral Roberts taking place Friday and Sunday, respectively.
SDSUÂ eyes its seventh consecutive win as it travels to Kansas City for an important league contest Friday at 7 p.m. The Jackrabbits and Roos are the only remaining 2-0-0 teams in Summit League competition.
"Kansas City is a very different team now than they were a month ago," head coach Brock Thompson said. "I think what you're going to see is two teams that are playing with a ton of confidence right now. It's going to be a close matchup Friday night, but that's why you play. You play games where one play can determine the direction or the outcome of the game."
The Jacks will close out the road weekend at Oral Roberts Sunday at 1 p.m., a matchup that will force SDSU to make some adjustments between the weekend's two games.
"Oral Roberts will be about a complete 180 degree difference from what we see on Friday and that is what makes this such a challenging road trip," Thompson said. "We'll go from playing on turf Friday to grass on Sunday. Oral Roberts is smaller and quick on the ball, where Kansas City has more size and will challenge us in some other ways... they're very good at set pieces. The adjustments our players will have to make will be a real challenge this weekend and how successful we'll be depends on that. We need to focus on playing Jackrabbit soccer and we'll be okay with the outcome that produces if we do that our very best."

- Since dropping a 3-0 contest at Creighton, the Jacks are outscoring their opponents 18-2. SDSU is outscoring its opponents 36-7 this season.
- SDSU has had at least a six-game winning streak in four of the last five seasons.
- South Dakota State has recorded at least 10 wins in nine consecutive seasons, the longest streak of double-digit wins in the Summit League. The Jacks boast more 10-win seasons (11) than any other league school since 2010 and have amassed at least 10 wins in 13 of the last 14 seasons.
- The Jackrabbits enter the weekend ranked seventh in the United Soccer Coaches Poll West Region, up one spot from eighth a week ago.

- SDSU ranks ninth nationally in goals (36), 12th in points (101) and 19th in assists (29).
- South Dakota State has been applying consistent pressure throughout the season in its attacking third. The Jacks rank 10th in the nation in corner kicks, averaging 7.67 a game.
- Maya Hansen has scored a goal in two consecutive matches and is tied for the most goals in the Summit League with nine on the season. She had three game-winning goals this year.
- Hansen's nine goals rank 13th nationally and her 21 points are the 23rd-most in the country this season.Â
- Jocelyn Tanner (7-1) entered the season with zero career shutouts and has five this season, a top-25 mark nationally.
- St. Thomas' goal in the 18th minute of Sunday's match was the first goal allowed by SDSU in over 440 minutes of game action. Â
- 16 different Jacks have tallied a point this year, tied for the second-most by an SDSU squad in program history.
- Jackrabbit freshmen have accounted for 33 of SDSU's 101 points this season, good for about 33% of the squad's offensive output.
