LEXINGTON, Ky. - South Dakota State outside hitter Sylvie Zgonc was one of 16 players added to the 2026 AVCA Player of the Year Award Watch List.
She joins the list of 30 athletes who were part of the Preseason Watch List that was revealed July 29–31.
She currently ranks ninth in the nation in kills per set, 15th in the nation in points per set and eighth in the country in total kills. The Hartford, Wisconsin native leads the Summit League in total kills and kills per set, while also averaging 2.52 digs per set and putting away 13 aces from the service line.
All of the Watch List selections were made by the 2026 AVCA Division I Women's Volleyball Awards Committee. That group will also work on the additional phases of the Player of the Year process, which include:
