BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Jacks keep their road trip rolling this week as they head to Summit League foes Omaha and St. Thomas on the back of a 3-0 win over USD, last Friday. Sylvie Zgonc was once again named Summit League Peak Performer on the back of a 19 kill, 13 dig double-double against the Coyotes. The Jacks will look to continue their strong start to the season as their road trip continues.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State Volleyball is coming off back-to-back 20+ win seasons for the first time since 2006-2007.
- SDSU was picked to win the Summit League in the preseason poll following a 16-0 conference record in 2025.
- Sylvie Zgonc returns as a two-time Summit League Player of the Year and is one of two Division I volleyball players chasing a third consecutive conference Player of the Year award (Olivia Babcock).
- Hannah Klein broke the program's record for solo blocks in a three-match set in her game against Bradley with five.
- Brooke Larsen recorded the first triple-double for the Jacks since 2013 when she tallied 11 kills, 23 assists and 11 digs against Tulsa. She is one of 14 players in Division 1 to record one this season.
- SDSU recorded its first win in Summit League play in dominant fashion against USD as the Jacks took the match, 3-0. It is the Jacks' 21st straight win in Summit League Regular Season play and 17th in a row on the road.
- Zgonc recently picked up her 1,500th kill, she is one of six Jackrabbits to ever eclipse the 1,500 kill mark. Currently sitting at 948 digs, if she reaches the 1,000 dig mark she will join a list of seven Jackrabbits to ever record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
- SDSU is second in the Summit League in hitting percentage so far this season, hitting .219 on the year. They trail only Omaha, who sits at .233.
- Taylor Byl is sixth in the Summit League in blocks per set with 0.96. Byl will be extremely important in the middle as the season rolls on.
- Sylvie Zgonc leads the league in kills (4.75) and points per set (5.17). The next best in each category has 3.95 KPS and 4.30 PPS.
